On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, marking the beginning of the Great Patriotic War (22 June 1941 to 9 May 1945), the Russian State Art Library (RSAL) presented a new virtual exhibition, Armed with Love. Artists in the War, created with materials from the theatre photography collection in RSAL’s Visual Information Centre and supplemented with excerpts from the memoirs of artists and participants in the war regarding the performances of artists at the front and the rear, and in hospitals.
