RSAL specialist Elena Rubanova talks about postcards based on sketches by the famous graphic artist Sergei Solomko, published by I. Lapin, 1914–1918.
In his drawings for postcards, the artist departs from the romantic images of ancient Russian culture, his contemporaries become the heroes of the themes. His works correspond to the spirit of the times, with subjects adapted for the European mentality.
