Goals and Objectives:
Consolidation of art libraries and organizations which have professional interest in activity of these libraries in order to solve problems relevant to all humanitarian institutions and to attract attention of public and governmental bodies to their solution.
The Section unites special libraries and departments of literature on art of various libraries. It includes the Russian State Art Library, the Scientific Library of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Glinka Museum of Musical Culture, All-Russian Museum of Decorative Applied and Folk Art, departments of art literature of RSL, Rudomino Library for Foreign Literature, and some regional universal scientific libraries, St. Petersburg State Theatre Library, Bogoliubov Art Library in Moscow, etc. The Section coordinates cooperation on a wide range of topics in all areas of librarianship, including bibliographic and information activities, training and professional development. Several programs actively work: Museum Libraries, Books Exchange, Continuing Education of Art Librarians based on Libraries and Museums: Exhibitions, Corporative Cataloging of Fine Art Magazines, etc. The Section favors the development of fruitful professional contacts both at home and abroad, organizes meetings, conferences, round tables, trainings and information seminars, promotes the exchange of national and international experience, and assists in professional communication, including receiving grants, letters and recommendations.
