On 7 April at RSAL, Vladimir Abrosimov’s The Book of Dedications ... Selections About Ballet Was Presented

Date: 20.04.2021

The publication was presented by its author, Vladimir Abrosimov, leading solo dancer of the Bolshoi Theatre during the late 1960-1980s, creator of striking characteristic roles in the main productions of the time, choreographer, and teacher.

For 20 years, Vladimir Abrosimov appeared on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre, then, after graduating from The Russian Institute of Theatre Arts, he worked as a director-choreographer and staged ballet, musical, drama, and opera performances in various theatres at home and abroad. His vast experience as a dancer and choreographer, and his meetings and work with famous people in the world of ballet were the material for his first book where new facets of his talent have been revealed as a writer, poet, and artist.

The publication includes lectures for his course ‘The Art of a Choreographer’ for students of the directing and ballet master department, essays, librettos for ballets, memoirs, poetic portraits of his colleagues, lyric poetry, and painting. His daughter, art critic, journalist, and screenwriter Arina Abrosimova is the literary editor of the book.

Of particular interest are the recollections about the Bolshoi Theatre soloists, such as Russian ballet stars Galina Ulanova, Maya Plisetskaya, Alla Osipenko, Leonid and Mikhail Lavrovsky, Alexey Ermolaev, Kasian Goleizovsky, Raisa Struchkova, Yuri Grigorovich, and many more.
