RSAL’s Exhibition ‘Top Names in Russian Ballet’ Opened in Minsk

On July 2, at the Museum of the History of Theatre and Musical Culture (Minsk), an exhibition from RSAL’s collections opened, ‘Top Names in Russian Ballet’.

The exposition was dedicated to the artists and choreographers who have become ballet legends not only in Russia, but in the world—among them: Vaslav Nijinsky, Anna Pavlova, Mikhail Fokin, Tamara Karsavina, Maria Semyonova, Galina Ulanova, Olga Lepeshinskaya, Maya Plisetskaya, Yuri Grigorovich….

The unique images acquainted viewers with the collection of original theatrical photographs collected and stored in the iconographic materials department. The true jewels of the exposition are the photographs from the Petipa family archive, as well as the works of famous Russian photographers: Karl Bergamasco, Elena Mrozovskaya, Carl Fischer, Miron Sherling, and Vladimir Bliokh. These masters of ‘photographic painting’ captured outstanding theatre figures in life and on stage from the 1890s to the present day.
